2027 test window
10–22 March
NAPLAN is a point-in-time assessment, not a pass-or-fail test. Our focus is building durable literacy and numeracy skills—not last-minute cramming.

NAPLAN is taken in March. When your school releases the official report later in the year, bring it to PEN. We map the reported results to specific skills, verify what is still true and turn the remaining gaps into the next teaching plan.
Start with a Year 2 baseline, then strengthen the literacy and numeracy skills that need attention before Year 3.
Your child completes the official Year 3 assessments through their school.
We translate the NAPLAN domains and proficiency information into a practical, skill-by-skill map.
Remaining gaps become the weekly plan. We recheck progress so the report leads to action instead of sitting in a drawer.
The official NAPLAN report is issued through your child's school. PEN uses it as one source of evidence alongside a current diagnostic; it is not treated as a complete measure of the child's learning.

The PEN diagnostic is not the official NAPLAN test. It helps identify the skills your child can use confidently and the areas that need structured practice.
Choose a suitable date for an in-person assessment at our Ryde centre.
We map Reading, Mathematics, Thinking Skills and Writing in approximately two hours.
Use the results to focus weekly learning on the skills that need attention before Year 3.

No. Students sit their first NAPLAN in Year 3. This program is for current Year 2 students building the reading, writing, language and numeracy foundations they will use in Year 3.
The published NSW test window is Wednesday 10 March to Monday 22 March 2027.
The in-person diagnostic takes approximately two hours and maps Reading, Mathematics, Thinking Skills and Writing. Parents receive a clear view of the skills to prioritise next.
Bring the school-issued NAPLAN reports to PEN. We map the reported domains to specific skills, check which gaps are still present, turn them into a targeted weekly plan and recheck progress each term.
Diagnostics and weekly classes are held in person at PEN Education, Level 1, Top Ryde City Shopping Centre, Ryde NSW 2112.
